I have the original small one, rather thick, with equally thick stand, in nice
little folding case, with detachable neck
strap. Apparently a great design, but I almost never had it with me when I
wanted it.

The newer credit card sized one is also credit card thick. I keep it in a PU
'leather' slip case from something else. I
imagine a stiffish paper case like those that come with electronic room keys
might work as well.

That way, it is always with me when out of the house. My problem is realizing
that I should use it in more situations
than I do.

The slip case both protects the surface and keeps track of the bent paperclip
'stand'. Mine came with a little "S"
carabiner that fits through a couple of small holes on one long side. It works
fine, but is a big lump in a wallet. I
bent part of a large paperclip into a squarish "U". It slips through the holes
and holds the card up nicely.

The old, thick one remains home where I can grab it easily for shots there. I
often do illustrative shots on our kitchen
table in mixed light from overhead fixture with CFLs and window light. Drop the
WhiBal in an edge or corner that will be
cropped or cloned out, and WB is good.

Better than nothing. But assuming something whitish actually is is iffy. I
tried a dropper on this guy's badge, awful.

Exactamento! It seems most people just don't get the beauty and power of
layers. It's apparently easy to assume they
make things harder, while the opposite is true.

New layer, WB to reference, opacity slider to mix to taste. Quick, easy, nice
results.
