I have an old version of Acronis (9.0) which I use only for cloning.
I've tested it a couple of times by installing the cloned boot drive and
running from it briefly. Seems to be fine.

On the other hand, I've read any number of horror stories about bugs in
Acronis later than version 9.0. So I won't use any later version and I
won't use it for other forms of backup despite its being a rather
complete product. Might work fine but I don't know that. SyncBack has
been doing good service for me for several years and I use that for
mirroring. If SyncBack made a cloning product I'd buy it tomorrow.

Shadowprotect seems too much like an IT shop solution with more
sophistication than I need. When I'm finally forced to dump XP I may
have to look for a different cloning solution.
