Stewed fruits could work with chilli, but I think that's because chilli is a
fruit in itself, and one generally of some sweetness. It'd need some
selectivity (I think some tartness would probably help).

I haven't had icecream just with chilli, though I can see it working quite
well. Does it make icecream "better"...well, that's a tricky one since
mostly icecream is made better by being better icecream (that is, the basic
recipe done well), in which case flavours don't so much make it better as
often nicely embellish the most perfect food (my subjective bias showing).

However, I have had icecream flavoured with chilli and dark chocolate
(Spirit House, Yandina). The be fair, chilli and chocolate are a great match
to begin with, but the icecream aspect does complete a triumvirate of taste,
the cream softening the harsher aspects of both, and the cold making the
back
