Our house had the old manually-read meters replaced with new smart
meters. Three of them; one for each kind of money-charging circuit we have
( line-controlled water heating, night-store heater (expensive waste of time),
and general usage (by far the highest cost)).
Every month we have to pay a significant few dollars for EACH meter.
Since they save on manpower, that really grates.
