If you take a look at the background you'll see that you've got fairly 
good background DOF but little or none to the front.  You may have 
needed to focus half way into the flower head rather than on the 
butterfly in order to make best use of the DOF.

If you know approximately how far away you were a DOF calculator will 
show you how much leeway you've got ahead and behind the point of focus 
in order to get it all in (assuming that's possible).
