Although Leica-R lenses aren't exactly light weight, I doubt the 250/4
approaches the 3.9kg of the Zuiko 250/2. It would make more sense to compare
the Zuiko 250/2 to the Leitz telyt 280/2.8

That said the quality is probably more often limited by the user of any of
these 3 lenses than by the lens. It only takes a tiny bit of mis-focus or
vibration to affect the performance achieved by a top quality lens.

I think the feel of the lens can have a big impact on the pictures a
photographer gets. The 250/4 and Jim seem to be very well matched. The 4kg
lenses might not generate the stream of great pictures we[re seeing.

A simple but beautiful image of a beautiful flower. I am curious, how
do you
guys think the OM Zuiko 250mm f/2.0 compares to the Telyt 250/4 ? On
the one
hand, there is all the (anecdotal?) evidence that, at least by the
1980s, there
was simply nothing as good as the 250/2, period.

On the other hand, logic dictates that (usually) a slower lens design
will have
less aberrations. I would love to see a head-to-head test. If I had a
four thirds
body, I could do the one half of the test, but alas - film only for me
for the
moment.
