There was a long article in the New Yorker about that, and it was expected
that through evolution among other things could bring them as far as
Arkansas and Oklahoma. Personally, I don't care how many Arkies and Okies
they eat, but let them stay there!

The Everglades is fairly well infested with Burmese pythons now.  The
past very cold winter took a large toll of them but it has been
discovered that many can readily survive by moving to deep holes.
Florida is largely underlain by porous limestone.  Large limestone pits
which break through to the surface provide an opportunity for a warmer
environment where the "Burms" can often survive the cold.  But northern
Georgia or Alabama might be a bit of a stretch.
