You left out the biggest one: broadcast TV!
And it isn't just the news -- in fact, I'd say so-called "news" is but a minor
part. How many TV shows do you watch that do not have a significant fear and/or
violence component? Of course, the "good guy" always wins, but it is still
violence...

I have a solution that is simple and will save you money: GET RID OF YOUR TV!
We still have one, but it isn't connected to cable nor an antenna -- it's only
for videos. We didn't quit "cold turkey," but first decided to eliminate any TV
that had violence as a significant component. That left (at that time) only
"Judging Amy" and "West Wing!"
PSSST! Why do you think they call it "programming?" You are being programmed if
you watch TV -- especially if you are certain you are not.
