Hi all,

Thank you very much for your help here as it´s really difficult to
guess what are the main differences. I wanted to double check with all
of you this issue for the following reasons:

Piers: I don´t really know if you can turn on AF using a PEN camera
coupled with a ZD 50mm f2 but in this video E-P1 seems to focus
although with a really slow speed.

Demonstration of Olympus E-P1 + ZD 50mm f2 lens focusing speed, and
recorded sound on video. Pressing the AEL/AFL button mid video causes
the lens to auto focus...
Check out our global Team Review Diary here :

I also found somewhere a list of compatible lenses but now I am not
able to find it. I also have found the followin comment:

Q: Does anyone know what's the difference between those two adpaters?
Because the Olympus one is much more expensive, running for about 150%
the price of the Panny. Can I use the Panny adapter with the E-P1 and
still be able to autofocus with regular fourthird lenses?

A: The Panasonic DMW-MA1 works fine for my E-P2, and all of my 4/3rds
lenses (Olympus 11-22mm, 14-54mm, 50-200mm, 70-300mm, 50mm, 14-42mm,
40-150mm, and Sigma 30mm) work fine with it. I found it for $124 on
ebay from buy.com. (I have the strange feeling this guy isn´t using
AF)

Q: If you use the adapter, is it true that not all the Olympus 4/3
lenses will provide autofocus? (I'm thinking specifically of the 50mm
f2 which is older.) I read something about this but did not really
understand.

A: Panasonic bodies will AF with only a few FT lenses, but all those
supported will AF relatively efficiently. Olympus bodies will AF with
all FT lenses, but many of those lenses will AF only slowly.

I have found that Panasonic cameras using their adapter coupled with
Olympus lenses rarely can autofocus. Have a look to this list.
http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/dsc/connect/g1.html So, should I
think that Olympus cameras work much better with Panasonic adapter and
Zuiko lenses rather than using Zuiko lenses with MMF-1 adapter?

I have the strange feeling there must be more differences between
them, rather than weight and colour.

Thank you very much for your help.

David
