I should have read more of the piece that I referenced.  A TV program I 
saw within the past year or two I thought stated that the Brown tree 
snake did have a breeding population within Hawaii.  The official word 
from Hawaii's department of land and resources, however, says otherwise 
or rather that they don't think so.  No way to know for sure short term.
