I grew up with "If it bleeds, it leads" news coverage. I was also taught
that if you cover a news event, cover what actually happened.
The news coverage here in Iowa is of a different mentality. Almost never do
you actually see the burning house, the crashed car or whatever it is that
happened--what you get are images of the flashing lights of a police
cruiser.
Personally, I find that rather offensive. Don't waste my time.
