This reminds me of the good old days when I had an AC adapter for my Vivitar
285HV. Being young and foolish, I wanted to see how well the flash did at
full dumps. So I triggered the flash repeatably, admiring the 1.5 second or
so recycle time and at some point---probably somewhere around 50 flashes, I
suddenly became aware that the flash was getting VERY warm! Also, I noticed
that the plastic fresnel was starting to melt!
I used that flash for the better part of another 10 years before it was
stolen along with a bunch of other gear from my garage.
Try THAT with a $500 dedicated flash. :)
