One thing I observed about Joel's 80-200 is the "snap" when it is in focus.
The image doesn't mush into focus, it snaps into focus. It is also a
well-balanced lens with no awkward habits. I had to quickly return it back
to him because I was developing a rapid case of lens-lust.

But it was Joel's 300/4.5 that almost made a disappearing act. I'm not sure
he's ever forgiven me for my having the lens when the pelicans started
taking flight. He had the 80-200 on his camera and I had the 300/4.5.

Needless to say, it was rough when we got back to Iowa City, when I had to
return all his toys which included the 300/4.5.

(PS, I've taken 200-300 shots in the last week with the 300/4.5 on the
E-1--half of which were wide-open)
