Interesting indeed! I can get behind any speed advantage however it is caused :) . Real world results are much more meaningful so thanks for the information. All I know is that my Dell laptop's Expresscard slot (with Expresscard 54 adapter) reads CF cards faster than the USB port... about 11 MBS vs 8 MBS. I don't know if 11 is the speed of the interface or the max speed of the card.
