Jez:
Canada's sleepy capital does merit a visit.

Among things that may be of interest:
Parliament etc
National Gallery
National Aviation Museum
National War Museum
Museum of Civilization
Rideau Canal and locks (World Heritage Site)
Byward Market (Centre town - Cafe terrasses, restaurants)
Gatineau park (June may not be the best time)

As Michael mentioned, there are other museums/locales perhaps of interest

Leaving Ottawa, you could take the scenic route via the Rideau Canal
down to the St Lawrence River (rather than the autoroutes)

To echo others, the Kingston-Gananoque-Thousand Islands area is
definitely worth a visit, and a way to break the trip down the 401 to
Toronto.

Michael mentioned the Air Force Museum at Trenton. It's particular claim
to fame is the home of the only authentic and restored Halifax bomber in
the world (recovered from a Norwegian lake, IIRC, as was the one in the
Imperial War Museum).

Hope this helps. Be pleased to provide more info.

Martin
