My wife is on the board of, and musical director for a little community
theatre company (www.theattictheatre.org), and they just played to four
sold out houses at their home venue. They were all quite surprised. Me
too.
Not apples to apples here, but it is arts.
I'm their trombone/tuba in residence. Pay isn't great, but it's a lot
of fun.
