in italy people have the choice to marry either in church or at city
hall, definitely not outside of those two locations (i honestly don't
know why).
weddings at city hall usually take place on saturdays, morning or
afternoon, when the officer is available to sign the necessary
documents after the ceremony (weddings in city hall are not valid for
the church, though).
weddings in church take place on saturdays or sundays, either in the
morning or the afternoon. nowadays people seem to prefer the
afternoon, usually between 4 and 5, so that they can have the dinner
reception at a restaurant (either inside or in the outside area) and
have the party go on until the wee hours of the night.
