Did a Michael Reichman - when the time came to return the M8 I went
into shock and bought one.
Askey at DPReview marked it down but a careful read of his pros and
cons showed the cons were all related to a dislike of and
unfamiliarity with rangefinders.
Why? I realised that with most test cameras the novelty wears off
inside a couple of weeks but I did more work with it than anything
else ever in the time available - couldn't leave it alone. And I
could carry it with 3/4 lenses in a small pack with a laptop and
other 'stuff'.
And the agent offered me a good price if I took a chrome. (I like
black but not black chrome much).
It is immensely satisfying. And small enough to carry - like an OM-1
with a small lens.
Imagine an OM with a sensor in it. That's close. Same solidity and
similar feel.
And there is just something about the images - dunno what it is. The
'It' factor?
And you have to think about what you are doing.
Damn. Anyone want to buy a kidney?
