It would still be a GM product, with all that that implies.
The reason I was so impressed with my first Lexus that I bought another
without looking at any other vehicle was precisely what you note: they
execute on even the tiniest details. There were very few things I didn't
think they got exactly right on my 2001 RX300. Every last one of them was
fixed on my 2007 RX350, and in 4+ months and 9100 miles, I haven't found a
single new thing to complain about.
GM (and Chrysler, and most especially Ford) need to learn more than how to
build hybrids. They need to learn how to build quality cars. I'm on my third
Toyota product, and will continue to buy Toyota at least until US
manufacturers can build a car that's as good.
