This week will be my second round of Church Directories. The E-1
with Olympus' Studio Camera Control is awesome. I'm definitely
looking into other event software with Remote Control to see if
things can be improved further.

What is so brilliant about this is several factors:
1. No wait for downloading CF cards.
2. Instant review on the computer screen where you can check critical
focus, eyes, and expressions. It takes 1/10 of the time to do it on
the computer screen as it does chimping on the camera where you have
to zoom and scroll around and even then you're not totally sure.
3. Since the instant review process allows you to immediately accept
or reject the picture, you are able to reshoot or go on in
confidence. A blink results in the instant pressing of the delete
button on the computer and pressing "Y"es.
4. The Exif data is updateable with text where you can type in
specific instructions, names, dates, etc.

In Studio, I'm able to apply my special-sauce curves adjustments as
an automatic batch process during RAW conversion. The only thing left
is spotting. But that's where things get really fun.

I'm using Miller's Lab for my printing. The ordering software is
terrific. I just open the program, start a new order, select my
directory where the converted files are located, click on each one,
pop quantities into each desired size. If I need to spot the
picture, I click the "edit" button which opens the file up in my
editor, I hit the healing brush or clone tool, do my spotting, save,
close and go onto the next one. Once you get rolling, you can
absolutely fly. Once I reach the end of the order, I just complete
it, verify it, and click the "upload" button. A few minutes later
the entire order is a state away and within 48 hours fedex is
delivering a package to my door.

Meanwhile, for the directory itself, I've got a couple tricks up my
sleeve where I use the proofing tool and am able to to multi-up on a
page and use the exif data to stuff the name, address, phone number
info below the picture. Pretty easy stuff.

Oh, for order taking, I'm still a bit rough there. I have an order
form that I immediately hand to the people where I just handright the
file name on it. This part of the business has some fleshing out to
do in order to better upsell the bigger prints. I'm hoping to get
the family helping out there.
