Whether the weather is weird or not is not the question. If the weather
is weird or the earth is warming the question is, what is the cause? I
don't think there are any naysayers about whether the earth has been
getting warmer recently. That's settled. But there's plenty of data in
the geological record and elsewhere to indicate that our good old
reliable sun is actually a variable star and old Sol doesn't always put
out the same amount of power. Right now he's working a bit of overtime
but the greenhouse gas skeptics predict that the solar max we're seeing
right now will change to a cooling off period in the near future.
Always skeptical of "settled science" and the need to toe the line if
you expect to get research grants... in any field.
