Actually, no. The WB "window" on the E-1 is used for AWB in
conjunction with the sensor. There is a bit of a balancing act
going on--to me it looks like about 50/50. The window gets an
ambient reading, but the AWB is still picking off the WB of the
brightest point in the image. When you do a manual WB set (by
pressing the WB button), it strictly uses the sensor and ignores
the ambient window.

Where I suffer WB problems with the legacy lenses is that the
colorcast doesn't appear to affect the WB in a linear manner.
The WB assumes the lens will either be neutral or linear in
color response. When you expose the scene with some blown
highlights, the AWB will be fooled because the highlights are
254.254.254, but the midtone might show up as 132.132.124. When
you set whitebalance for midtone, you'll get 128.128.128 and
your highlights will still show as 254.254.254. (assumption
being that midtone is 128.128.128).

Well, I'm not convinced that the ExpoDisc is the "end-all" quite
yet, but for situations like I encountered yesterday, It sure
was beneficial.
