Amen! I was taking a break from setting up the tailgating stuff here with the
Vol Navy (or should it be "boatgating"?) and decided to avail myself of the
campus-wide-and-wider wifi and see what was happening with y'all.

NEVER a filter unless I want the effect the filter produces. Even the best
filter degrades the image to some degree, and using one for "lens protection"
is just -- well, it's like putting plastic covers on your couch or a bra on
your car or reading the ingredients in your food. It's just plain wussy! With
four camera systems, I've got over 60 lenses, some of which I've had 40 years
or more. I never use filters for "protection," and the only lens I've got with
a scratch is a 35-105 Zuiko that my wife banged into something. Not my fault.

Let the lens be free to take the air, like it was meant to, and don't coop it
up behind a window of almost always inferior glass, even if it's an MC B+W,
which most all mine are.

And Chuck's right, too, about the deer. Way more now than ever before because
farmland and suburbs provide the ideal environment. They are becoming a menace
to motorists, and if they aren't drastically thinned, most will starve or die
of disease. I intend to do my part this year.

Gotta go now. There's work to be done. I'm the semi-official bartender this
afternoon. :-)
