I am sure there is a differenc ein the image quality, Jim, but I have never
noticed it. I have used Tamron SP lenses for 25 years, to great
satisfaction, secure in the knowledge that I was not tied to the proprietary
mount of any one manufacturer. It took me 25 years to notice that I never
used any other camera than Olympus, and made the change from Tamron 17mm to
Zuiko 18mm for reasons of size. And I now have so much more to fit into my
bag!

Have you seen Gary Reese's lens tests:

http://members.aol.com/olympusom/lenstests/default.htm

He hasn't tested the Tamron 17mm, but has tested the Vivitar 17mm, as well
as every Zuiko lens.

Thanks for all the responses.

Piers,
Is there any significant different in image quality between the Zuiko 18.3.5

TIA
cheers
