Seems to me that not much would be due to the sensor. 5.5MP is what? Some 82.5
per cent of the resolution of an 8MP sensor? (sqrt 5632)/(sqrt 8192) assuming
1024000 pixels per megapixel.

I forgot to add that the photographers in URLs I gave were using the ZD 50/2
macro lens on the E-300.
I don't know how much of the excellence is due to the lens and how much is due
to the camera being 8MP rather than 5½ MP.
