Someone here had a Sprite racing car with a Mazda rotary engine. I never did
hear how he did with it but it had to be a hoot to drive. The whoop and
scream of a V12 Ferrari is wonderful. I tried to buy a wrecked Ferrari with
a V12 but couldn't get the deal made. I wanted to straighten the chassis and
put a Ford Falcon body on it. My wife thought I was over the edge on that
one.
There is a lovely Jeep here with a Ferrari V12 engine that is very
interesting. My Jeep has an interesting sound if you like raw noise. It has
twin side pipes with almost no mufflers and at full throttle it is socially
unacceptable. My granddaughters get a kick out of riding in it in the
mountains but in town it embarrasses them. Some things you are not supposed
to do when you get old I guess. That's why I bought a Beta trials bike this
fall. I sold my last bike about a year ago and have felt naked without one.
Rebellion against the norms is uplifting. /jmac

Used to race an Austin Healey Sprite, MGB and a Lotus Super Seven (no, not
at the same time). They all sound great - especially with the open
exhausts. But there is nothing like the sound of the Italian 12cyl engines
at full chat on a race course -- brings the blood to a boil.
