Tho I have never had anything taken from the doorstep....I do get 
worried about this sort of thing.
Most smart shippers put a signature required label on the package. Dell 
didnt do that recently when they shipped my E-500 and subsequently DHL 
left it on my doorstep in very cold conditions. I called Dell to 
complain and their answer was that they are not required to get a 
signature for 3rd party manufactured items.

Anyhow I'd go back to the seller and have them file a claim.
