I also found out the hard way.

When I got my Winder 2, I used it first with my OM-2n, and the cap 
fitted fine. Later I tried it with my OM-4 and was struggling to get it 
in, but because the OM-2n cap fitted so well I twigged something was not 
right and gave up trying.

Regarding the battery drain, some OM-4s will have been upgraded to 
OM-4Ti circuitry - Olympus UK kindly did mine under warranty. As Piers 
says - the test is the battery check switching off after 30 secs.
