Amen with your whole post. I just shot my second wedding and I was
forced to use flash as well. Never liked it, never will. No love lost.
The couple, very good friends of mine, didn't have a traditional
party, instead they had a dinner 3 weeks after the ceremony. That
dinner was yesterday, and I left the flash and all the crap I'm not used
to home, and just went in with one OM-4Ti, a 50/1.4 and 2 rolls of 800
ASA film. Lots of funny looks, lots of fun from my side and hey, I ran
out of film just in time to start partying with the rest of the people !
I'll definitely shoot more weddings if I'm asked, but I'll do it on my
conditions. A separate informal photo shoot, limited work during the
action. I won't be half-guest half-photographer anymore, it's no fun.
