My experience has been that the f8 and slower mirrors are quite difficult to
focus. With a normal lens you normally stop down from wide open which
provides some margin for error. There is no margin for error with the
mirrors. You may find ease of use out weighs test bench quality.

The Celestron 750mm f6 is by far the easiest mirror I've used because the f6
aperture will work well with a split image focus screen. The lens is much
bigger in diameter than the other mirror lenses, but still light weight.
They don't show up on yaBe very often but typically sell for roughly $200+

I don't find it at all difficult to carry the Zuiko 300/4.5 but with a 2x
teleconverter you will need light to focus. IRRC Mike posted some great
pictures of foxes with stacked TCs on a 300mm.

My favorite is a Tamron 400/4 with 1.4 TC. It's not in the same portability
class as the lenses you asked about but the weight actually isn't too bad.
The quality is top notch.

For a tiny light weight 300m the Tamron 300/4.5 mirror can't be beat. I seem
to always grab my Zuiko 50-250/f5 when I want small though. The ability to
stop down to gain some margin for error seems to nearly always be a deciding
factor.

Good luck Andrew,
