Good science is not based on rigorously defined 'causation' -  
otherwise there'd be no warnings on cigarette packets. the cigarette  
industry used this dodge for years. 'Cause and effect' linkage is one  
of the most difficult problems we have - you can never prove effect  
to the level of absolute proof.
