In my brief experience with the E-300 it appeared to me to be a rather well
built camera for its price point. It's about on par with the construction of
the C-5050 and C-8080. Sure, the shutter is a bit loud when compared to an
OM-1 or an E-1. What do you expect for something in that price range? It's
no worse than any of its competitors, and in some cases far surpasses what
they offer (eg. supersonic wave filter). If you want something well designed
and durable then get an E-1. The shutter on an E-1 is incredibly quiet, it
makes the OM's sound klunky.
