That looks like it is a Model Z-500 Adaptall (NOT Adaptall-2) dating from
1973-1976 or a Model CZ-500 Adaptall (again, not Adaptall-2) dating from
1976-1979

Otherwise http://tinyurl.com/66a4p and http://tinyurl.com/6woot

I assume the differences are largely cosmetic - the style of lens grip
changed at that time.

Assuming the seller's description "Mint Condition as New" is accurate (and I
have no reason to doubt it), you can guess how many times it has been used
in the past twenty five plus years. Note that it weighs in at 2.7kg - about
6 pounds. That is to your advantage, since at leat one of the bidders is
from the US west coast, and will have at least GBP30 of surface mail
shipping to factor into his bid. But it may also be to your disadvantage
when it comes to carrying it around with you!

As to the lens itself - I don't know anything about this one, but have been
generally more than happy with Tamron. You need to keep in mind that there
were two later versions of the 200-500 zoom (06A and 31A), the first of
which introduced the Adaptall-2 mount, the last of which had a maximum
aperture of f/5.6, and is the only 200-500 to gain the "SP" designation
which indicates superior performance. I don't know if the earlier lenses
were improved in other ways.

You can access details of the latter two via

Hi,

Anybody know anything about this lens (eB item 3877496904)? No idea what
his reserve might, be but it doesn't seem to be attracting much interest...

Tom
