The local (SC) Ritz Photo people told me as of a few months ago that
they had about 200 warehoused that were available for sale.
There are adaptors out there for different digital models but the
Optem Eyepiece Adaptor (Avimo Intruments) was the simplest to use and most
economical. Also, I'd be reluctant to hang the digital body at a 40 degree
angle by the extended zoom lens. Sounds like a recipe for disaster.

I developed an interest in one of these about six months ago and a new
one was unobtainable in the US except from a couple of cheezy dealers
with bad reputations. It was still a normal stock item in Canada
though.
Almost all the better digicams offer a rigid adaptor tube that holds
accessories. So I don't think that internal focusing is required.
