DOH...
Maybe I should surrender my engineering diploma...I always pride myself for
being able to find solutions. This Christmas brake I built a beautiful
fireplace mantel using a screwdriver, drill and a hammer only...
I think with this method I would be almost safe from the salt in the air, my
main concern and now I just need to have a trade study on features. Thank you
sooo much.

Correction approved..:) May I add that it looks funnier when the wind blows
from behind while trying to walk on ice?

I am not sure as I am yet to make my features trade study. Most likely I am
going to get a lot more than I need.
The only minor inconvenience I ever had with Olympus was the viewfinder being
too close to my eye, making it slightly more difficult to keep the horizon
straight. This is nothing, compared to the major inconvenience they caused me
by discontinuing the OM line...:)
I have held before a Digital Rebel and it felt pretty comfortable. This past
weekend a friend of mine from Connecticut came to visit and brought his
Christmas gift with him, a brand new Rebel. I senced some tension between his
future bride and him over it, apparently it was a gift from him to him without
her approval ( and he does not know anything about photography, but he is a
gadget guy...nothing wrong with it, just makes us look bad...) Had an
opportunity to play with it and I kinda felt at home. I liked the pix I took.
One of them was of the lavish mansions in Newport at night and I think it did a
superb job even without my interference. He did not have the manual with him
and I had only half an hour with it only, but the zoom was manual, I thought it
had the capability to zoom with a press of a button.
I will not buy an E1, but would seriously consider the EVOLT and the E1's
replacement. I am accustomed to the quality and ergonomics from Olympus. My
major concern is the price of lenses. IMHO the third party lenses are just as
good and would like to have a choice.
Having said that I would still explore my options with cameras such as the A2
and Sony DSC-V3, thank you for recommending them guys (and a girl...:). If the
vertical coverage is that of 24mm I can do stiches and oink happily like a pig
on its back in a pile of mud. Just have to remember to wipe the salt spray off
of that UV filter every five minutes or so.
Dear Mr. A.G. Silvernose, I don't like you, because you influence too many of
my life decisions...:). If I go with the A2, this is going to be my third
product I buy based on your recommendation and am sure that wont be wrong this
time either.
Thanks to all dudes and a dudette for helping me out. I am going to keep you
posted (read: going to brag later...).
Ciao
Boris
