[OM] 35mm Shift Lens Question

Subject: [OM] 35mm Shift Lens Question

Hi,

Recently bought a Zuiko 35mm shift lens, generally delighted with it - but
(there's always a but...), there seems to be a problem with the shift
mechanism - moves too freely.

When using the camera in portrait mode & shifting the lens vertically it
gradually moves down towards the centre setting - the friction in the shift
mechanism doesn't seem to be sufficient to support the weight of the lens at
full extension. Doesn't occur in landscape mode which is stiff enough to
support itself...

So - is this a common failing with shift lenses? (not used one before), &
whether it is or not - how to fix it?

Thanks - Martyn
