Any difference in quality between the two?

I was thinking about the 80mm because with my tamron 90mm I could cover a
good range up to double life size. Not having a ring flash I didn't think
any more than that would be practical with available light only running at
say F11...

Piers you tempter you - let me think about it for a while! The same guy
had a manual version of the 80mm which went for not a lot. I tried my
first snipe at it and was about 4 second too late...

Regards
James
