14 bit, I believe.  Extrapolated to 16.

I haven't done that particular comparison test.  These days,
I've been playing around with the color profiles.  I've been
shooting Adobe as my standard setting, but have been
experimenting with Vivid instead.  An advantage to shooting
Adobe is that it somewhat mimicks the toe and shoulder of film.
Where Normal or Vivid will let the high and low values scoot
into saturation, Adobe will hold some detail.  However, this
also forces you to bump the curves to liven the photo up.

Thinking about this, I'd have to say that you might be onto
something as the higher bit depth would result in less
volumetric aliasing.

Now back to the racoons.  Did Walt really say that his deck is
8x80?
