They are going this way at work too. As someone said, when your computer
goes onto the network, you're happy. It doesn't always happen. Yet you never
listen for a dial tone any morew because the phones are so reliable.
The reason we are going to voice over IP is we can't buy a modern normal
exchange any more (not with future support anyway).

make a direct call to your star topology. Ahh, the wonders of the
technology.
The phones at the office runs on ethernet/IP and is much more
unreliable than the old common style. And the old ones do work in black
outs.
