Sure. The shutter curtain mechanism is essentially the same for
mechanical or electronic. What differs is the methods but which the 1st
curtain is released, the timing for the 2nd curtain release and means of
the second curtain hold/release. The 1st curtain brake is strictly a
mechanical function. Whether it is exactly identical for the 3 and 4
bodies and whether the frequency of problems is the same, I would have
to leave to the repair experts.
