[OM] T8 ring flash glows but does not flash ...

I pulled out my T8 ring flash this afternoon to catch the emerging plum
blossom in the back yard.

Pressed the "test" button and got ... nothing. Except an occasional faint
glow from the tubes.

I've used both new batteries and AC adapter. The CU is OK -- it drives the T28 
twin flash without a problem.


Any ideas what the problem might be? The Japanese manual at the ESIF site 
doesn't give many clues.


This is very disappointing. I'd been hoping to give it a lot of spring
exercise!
