It certainly seems that if the 'security people' there were US security
people they could have intervened with the airport TSA security people to
avoid this unnecessary aggravation of a senior diplomat of a friendly allied
power. This would be the equivalent of a former Secretary of Defense getting
the full drill at the Paris airport -- wouldn't that stir up a fuss...! I
suppose if they searched Rumsfield they could always look for brains as
well... some of his recent policy decisions seem to support the allegations
that he hasn't any. Do I feel he's part of the problem with this
administration? Why yes, I do. Is that a big problem? Well yes, it might be.
Should he have had an end-game plan before entering Iraq? Well, any wise
warrior would have. Is his habit of asking and answering his own questions
very annoying? Well yes, I think it is.
