We put a raised top on a 1979 Ford van and it actually improved the gas
mileage. It was still terrible but better than before. That big 460 engine
really sucked the gas but it was a pulling machine. I'm not sure why anyone
would want to go 130 with a top carrier on but to each his own I guess. I've

Yikes. The only way I'd get my Jeep going 130mph with a Thule
mounted up top is if it slipped off a mountain trail. I doubt
the thing would stay closed for long.
Neat side note, though. My Jeeps get better gas mileage WITH
the box up top than without. Go figure.
