1. Be sure you're using two silver oxide batteries, not lithium or alkaline.
2. Clean the inside of the battery cover with a pencil eraser and make sure
it's snug.
3. Make sure the bottom cover screws are tight.

It this doesn't solve the problem, I'd first check for loose ground screws
on the circuit, but you've got to open the camera to do that....
