Yeah, but that is what other digital cameras do. They count each RGB
pixel as one pixel. The only difference is they are spread out in a RGBG
pattern;  where the missing colors are interpolated on top of each color
pixel. Not that this makes the SD10 any better, but it is like AMD giving
the equivalent MHZ for their processor. Whether it is really faster is
dependent on the application. Put a RED filter on a 5mpx camera and
you have a  < 2mpx camera. The real proof is in the image. To think that
a regular 5mpx digicam is really 5mpx/color is not correct though, there
is interpolation to get 5mpx/color.

Note, Red = 25%, Green = 50%, Blue = 25% of the pixels.

"The missing pixels in each color layer are estimated based on the value
of the neighboring pixels via the demosaicing algorithms in the camera.
Combining these complete (but partially estimated) layers will lead to a
surprisingly accurate combined image with three color values for each pixel."
