Yea, especially when each pixel is right underneath the other!

I didn't want to say anything, but the Sigma cameras haven't really done that
well, never having garnered their share of accodates. At least not enough to
get people to buy into a new lens mount (remember, it uses only Sigma SA
lenses).

According to the reviews, it's certainly delivering good, smooth images and
reportedly superior to Bayer cameras at pixel-for-pixel comparison. That's
3.4 MP, not the crazy 10 MP that their marketing types claim. That argument is
no different than the 12 MP mumbo-jumbo that Fuji claims for their Super-CCD
cameras.

But come on, 2 FPS? RAW only?! I wouldn't buy it solely on those specs, no
matter how good the images are. The stuff from my E-1 is fabulous.

My prediction is that the Foveon chip will die a slow, slow death, as
previously inferior technolgoy overwhelms it, bit by bit. Do any of you still
use Betamax recorders? I doubt it. Superior technology, slow implementation.
Foveon must have sold their soul to Sigma to get that ship in an SLR so
quickly. So Sigma likely extracted a huge exclusivity premium in the
negotiations, preventing Foveon from offering their technology to any other big
maker. Don't you think that Pentax or Minolta would have jumped at the chance
to buy in if they could? But that would have doomed Sigma's offering, as their
only real marketing angle
is the chip....otherwise it's a very unspectatular camera.

It's much like the Fuji S2/S3, which I think is pretty wacky, with it's
grafted-on electronics, two power sources, and two LCD systems. Again, no
matter how good the electronics, to me it also has to handle nicely. The E-1
is just about right for my needs right now.
