OK, I finally took the lens mount apart and tried to clean the 
levers. Now it works again! The diaphragm ring is still stiff in the 
16 -> 2.8 direction, but at least the DOF button is functional again.

I did this on the suggestion of Daniel Sepke, to whom a owe a very 
big "thank you"!
