Hi, Olaf,

The 3Ti has a brass plate covering the hole in the chassis which is occupied
by the 4T(i)'s timer. It is roughly the size of a dime, but with one corner
square instead of round. I don't think it is screwed into anything, or
fastened to the frame in any way. Perhaps what happenned is that the brass
plate shifted out of the recess where it normally sits, possibly due to a
loose covering. The coverings on these OM cameras lift off VERY easily, so
if you can convince the owner to peel back the covering, you can investigate
the situation directly. If it looks like the plate shifted, you will want
to be sure that it was not due to an impact or excessively hard jar. Check
everything else out, but it sounds like it's just displaced. If it looks OK
upon inspection, you can just place the plate in it's normal position (which
is obvious), and push the covering back down. Place the Grip1 (hopefuly
included) back into position and lightly tighten it in case the covering
wants to pop back up! There will probably still be a sloght bulge under the
leatherette at that location. Buy the camera and then get a nice Dark
Burgundy leather covering from Morgan Sparks, as now you have seen how
unbelievably easy it is to remove the stock leatherette. Enjoy the heck out
of it!!!! It's a truly awesome camera, and start looking for a 35-80 zoom
to go with it!

Good luck,
John

Hi Olaf:

I don't own one but I'm told that the hump is normal, may have to do with
structural strength as it is where the timer would be on the OM 4 Ti.

From: Olaf Iwert <mailto:oiwert@xxxxxxx> I came across an OM 3Ti in
perfect condition, but one problem :
The leather on the position, where the OM 4 / OM 4Ti have their self timer
was bowed, so it is thicker.
