My completely uneducated guess is it will be replaced with
a rumoured, less-spec'd version of the E1 (ie. as the
C*n*n 300D is to the 10D is to the 1DS?)), in the hope of
encouraging that c5050z market to go with a 'system' (is
that the right terminology?) digital rather than a P&S digital
(and I own a c5050z, so I don't use "P&S" in any pejorative
fashion).
I suppose it's all a matter of pricing though.
