The very first camera I took a picture (not a snapshot...) was my wife's N*k*n
rangefinder. Then it swam underwater for a long time while on a canoe trip and
needed to be replaced. Did research, but the most influential source was the
"Sky and Telescope" ( this was 96-97?)which had a review of the 5 best film
cameras for astrophotography. One of them was the OM1 and needless to say the
best. If you are interested which other cameras it was competing against, I
can dig up the mag, but this will happen next week, coz in a few I we are out
the door, gone camping.

P.S. I never took an astropic. Things have changed, now I just want to go and
